Summary: 

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (NUFSM) seeks a full-time faculty member to join the leadership team of the Mental Health Services & Policy Program (MHSPP). This faculty position will include two primary responsibilities: (1) providing administrative supervision for MHSPP’s contracted services to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, and (2) developing/maintaining an externally funded research program in mental health, child welfare, or child trauma services research or a related field. In addition, the successful candidate for this position will be expected to mentor trainees in psychiatry and psychology.  The position also includes opportunities to teach in NUFSM graduate programs and collaborate with academic and external partners.

As a multidisciplinary research and educational program, MHSPP’s mission is to provide research, evaluation, outcomes management, technical assistance and training that helps improve the lives of individuals and families that receive publicly funded mental health services. MHSPP is home to the National Child Traumatic Stress Network Center for Child Trauma Assessment and Service Planning, which focuses on enhancing trauma-informed assessment and interventions within child-serving systems across the country. http://psychiatry.northwestern.edu/research/mental-health/index.html

The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree, experience directing a large, externally funded research project, and history of successful grant funding (preferably from a federal agency). In addition, the successful candidate will have a record of successful mentorship of students, fellows or junior faculty colleagues. Experience working within large public sector child welfare or mental health systems is preferred.  Experience or interest in using data to influence health policy is also highly desirable.

The successful candidate will qualify for appointment in the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Clinician-Educator Track. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Start date is negotiable. In order to ensure full consideration, applications should be received by August 31, 2014.
