The Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, MD is an internationally recognized facility dedicated to improving the lives of children and adolescents with pediatric developmental disabilities through patient care, special education, research, and professional training. We provide evaluation, rehabilitation, educational services and cutting edge research on behalf of children with brain related disabilities, musculoskeletal disorders and spinal cord injuries. We are seeking applicants for the position of Social Worker II (Spanish Language fluency). The Social Worker II is a primary therapist to children and families who have been exposed to abuse, neglect and violence. All of the children and families will be Spanish speaking and the Social Worker will be required to effectively communicate with them in Spanish. The Social Worker utilizes the information gained by the interdisciplinary evaluation services in the development and implementation of a treatment plan for the child and his/her families.
The Social Worker II provides weekly individual, family or group, psychotherapy services to children and their families, all of whom will be Spanish speaking; attends interdisciplinary staffing to discuss and integrate the evaluation information and to develop a comprehensive treatment plan responding to the psychological and social needs of the client/family; collaborates with the referring agency and the local Department of Social Services to assist them in utilizing the evaluation/treatment services in the development of the agency service plan for the child and the family; collaborates with the school system to assure that the children are receiving appropriate educational services if indicated and will respond to the juvenile court system through written or oral progress reports when such is required in the juvenile court's development of a plan for the child and family; participates in peer consultation groups and/or individual supervision for review of clinical work; and maintains the medical record for each client seen which includes a treatment plan and diagnostic interview at the initiation of therapy, weekly progress notes, periodic reviews, and termination summary.
