Family Service of Rhode Island's (FSRI) mission is to advance equity, opportunity, and hope in our communities. We believe all children and families have limitless potential. But for those growing up surrounded by poverty, family instability, and physical or emotional stress, life is too often about survival, not possibility. FSRI responds alongside police to provide crisis response to victims at crime scenes, offering crisis intervention, stabilization, language support, and service referral. In addition to crime victims, the Police Partnership program assists homeless individuals, wayward juveniles, people with mental health or substance use issues, and others in crisis. The program also helps prevent crime by defusing community conflicts. Family Service of Rhode Island, the Roger Williams University Justice System Training and Research Institute and the Institute for Intergovernmental Research will create a Center for Trauma-Informed Policing to improve outcomes for traumatized children encountered on crime scenes. A state-of-the-art, virtual law enforcement training program will be developed and the FSRI Go Team police/mental health partnership program will be formally evaluated. A Project Advisory Committee including child trauma experts, law enforcement, clinicians, and family with lived experience will advise on all project activities. Following a New England-based pilot to test the initial training and technical assistance program and two Learning Communities involving police departments across the country to improve upon and refine the program and related intervention products, the final trauma-informed law enforcement Learning Management System (LMS) will be launched and broadly disseminated.

The Family Sunshine Center (FSC) fosters hope and healing for survivors of family violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking through crisis intervention, safe shelter, counseling, advocacy, and supportive services, aiming to empower survivors to lead safe, violence-free lives. The CARES (Children Advancing Through Recovery and Empowerment Services) Project, a division of FSC's Children's Services Department, offers counseling proven effective in addressing symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, sexualized behaviors, and feelings of shame and mistrust often displayed by children exposed to trauma. Staffed by licensed therapists trained in various evidenced-based therapies (TF-CBT, CBITS, etc.), CARES serves children and youth ages 3-18, tailoring the number of sessions to meet each child's needs. Services are available for those who have witnessed or experienced various traumas, including family violence, sexual abuse, neglect, child abuse, sex and/or labor trafficking, community violence, bullying, or traumatic grief involving the death of a caregiver or sibling. Our free services are open to everyone, regardless of race, gender, age, sex, status, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, or any other factor.

As funded CAT III site Project Director, in addition to successfully administering the SAMHSA grant funding and providing oversight of the implementation of the Project--a school-based therapy initiative that serves children, ages three to 18, who have experienced various types of trauma, Nancy also developed the trauma awareness training for the Project on (1) How to Recognize Trauma; (2) How to Respond to Trauma; (3) How to Create Trauma-informed Systems for Children; and (4) How to Manage Secondary Traumatic Stress. Nancy successfully administered these trainings to over 300 percent of the first-year target population goal within months. As a National Steering Committee member and an Affiliate Advisory Council member with the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) with Duke University and UCLA, and as a national advisory board member of the TRANSFORM (Trauma and Racism Addressed by Navigating Systemic Forms of Oppression using Resilience Methods) Program with Washington State University, Nancy works closely with trauma-focused research professionals and evidence-based intervention providers to promote awareness and create transformative training tools to develop trauma-informed systems of care. As a passionate advocate for the homeless, for those who suffer with mental illness, and for children impacted by trauma, Nancy continues to use her unique skill set and her commitment to learning to maximize every effort in developing solutions for at-risk populations. Nancy also serves as the Health Committee Co-Chair for the Milwaukee Section of the National Council of Negro Women.

FMRS Health Systems, Inc. is a comprehensive behavioral health center in West Virginia and former SAMHSA Child Trauma grantee. FMRS has offices in Raleigh, Fayette, Summers, and Monroe Counties. Specialized programs are offered to meet the needs of children and adults experiencing emotional, behavioral, developmental or substance abuse problems. Our goal is to assist people in identifying and addressing problems early in an effort to prevent more serious difficulties from occurring. Our children therapists utilize evidence based practices such as Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Our robust children's system of care includes Children's Mental Health Wraparound, Mobile Crisis Unit, Expanded School Mental Health, Crisis Respite, and a Regional Youth Services site offering case management, suicide prevention, and adolescent substance use services.
